Being a Savannah girl, I was delighted to collaborate with Monica Lavin of Lavin Label on finding the ideal art to complement her recent bedroom redesign. Her home is a gorgeous example of my hometown’s storied style, and she was putting the finishing touches on a serene space that would be her retreat from work, parenting, and the frenetic bustle of everyday life
Monica sent me photos of the space and detailed shots of her fabrics. With Farrow and Ball’s Toile Trellis wallpaper adorning the walls and Thibaut’s Augustine printed fabric softening windows and closet door panels, she had plenty of pattern at play and was looking for artwork that was compelling, but didn’t compete.
A pair of Helium original paintings by Jenn Thatcher, a self-taught artist from Dallas, Texas, presented the perfect solution. Looking at them feels like you are floating on a cloud. Framed in natural wood, they add a contemporary element that balances the traditional décor.
Monica loved them. The tone-on-tone abstracts offer a place for the eye to rest, enhancing but not overpowering the space. “Now it’s my favorite wall in my room,” she said. “It’s such a treat to wake up to this soothing grouping of paintings.”
I love helping people find pieces that make their day-to-day better! We all need a little peace and beauty, and the right art can give us just that.
Special thanks to Tamara Gibson for her fabulous work photographing Monica’s room and perfectly capturing the essence of the art and space!
