We asked Virginia-based interior designer Wizzie Broach five questions to learn more about her practice, her habits, and her dreams. Read more below:



Q: What’s one must-have item every well-designed home should have?
A: Every well-designed home should have a wall of original artwork that has been
collected over the years. Your collection of art should showcase your own
personal style in order to make your home unique.

Q: If you could design a space for any celebrity or historical figure, who would it be and why?
A: There are so many people I would love to design for so I thought I would let you
know who I would like to design for me! If wishes could come true, I would love
for Albert Hadley, Kelly Wearstler, Miles Redd or David Hicks to design my
home. I love their ability to blend different design styles; mixing both modern
and traditional pieces. I am inspired by them all.

Q: What was the last book you read?
A: I am in a book club of ten women and we just finished the book The Measure by
Nikki Erlick. I highly recommend.

Q: Are there any trends you think are timeless?
A: Natural materials and neutral palettes will never go out of style and will add
warmth to your home. For example the use of natural fiber rugs and natural
textiles will stand the test of time and will evolve as your taste changes.

Q: If someone is starting from scratch with their decor, what’s the first thing they should invest in?
A: If you were starting from scratch, the first thing to invest in is a comfortable, well made sofa that can be the highlight of your family room. A comfortable sofa brings people together for conversation and to watch your favorite shows with one another.
