About CARSON OVERSTREET

“To be alive is to be inspired. It’s all quite simple, really. Everywhere I look I find inspiration from the geraniums on my back porch, to wildflowers growing in an urban alleyway, to the sweeping bucolic scenery of the American South. I may use a different approach in a small plein air painting produced in the field than I would with a larger studio painting, but the goal is always the same: to translate the inherent beauty I see before me--whether commonplace or exceptional-- into a painting that would cause the viewer to pause in consideration or admire with delight.” - Carson Overstreet
Carson Overstreet was born and reared in Bedford, Virginia and is currently living and working in Richmond, Virginia. She began painting in 2013 and hasn’t looked back. For many years she referred to herself as a “self-taught” painter, but does not claim this label anymore. In recent years, she has taken courses and studied under Scott Christensen, Christine Lashley and the late Randy Sexton. Her work is comprised of landscape, floral, still life, plein air and figurative painting.
